A typical class will start with a warm up. This will involve moving the entire body and stretching exercises. Yes, we do press-ups and sit-ups, but no too many.
We then practice breakfalls as we cannot teach you how to throw or do take-downs if you cannot fall without hurting yourself.
Next comes some striking and kicking exercises. This will vary depending on what grade you are. It can be from the most basic of punches and kicks to full random sparring for the higher graded members. All sparring is contact only and not with force.
We then will move on to our syllabus material. This is the techniques that you will need to learn for your next grading. You will be supplied a booklet that has all techniques that you require for your belts including space for note taking.
By this stage, you would have been already training for approx. and hour for seniors ( juniors do not do this for as long). After another 45 minutes we then ease down to a warm down phase before stopping training after two hours. This might seem like a long time but it goes really quickly.
